3 Months Update

Okay, haven't done much in regards to recording Finn's activities.  I always like looking back at my monthly updates on Cole.  It's fun to see what he was up to at different ages and what new "skills" were interesting to me at the time (like eating peas for the first time...who cares? really:-).  Okay, so here's a look at Finn at 3 months:

Sleeping: He goes to bed at 9 PM and will sleep until 7 AM.  The trick to getting him to sleep through the night is putting him down in his Rock 'N Play sleeper.  I tried the crib for a week or so.  He did pretty well, but he usually woke up at least once in the middle of the night.  My second day back at work, he was up 4 times one night.  After that, I decided the crib was just not worth it.  After a week of successfully sleeping in the Rock 'N Play, I decided to try the crib again.  By this time, he'd learned to roll from his back to his tummy (or was working on this skill).  This time I found him up multiple times at night, including one time when both of his legs for sticking out of the crib!!! So, back to the Rock 'N Play sleeper for now...

New Skills: Finn started rolling from his back to his front at 3 months 1 week. He truly surprised us with this one. I had no idea he was even working on this skill when all of the sudden he just rolled over.  The first few days he would get his arm caught underneath him and would fuss.  Finally, he figured out how to get enough momentum into it to allow himself to pop up his body and move his arm out of the way.  In the evening, it is not unusual to watch Finn roll over 5 or 6 times in a row.  Each time we will last on his belly for a few minutes, then when his arms cant support him any longer, he will fall face down and fuss.  I'll move him back to his back and within a few minutes he's rolled over again!  It's hilarious to watch.  (He really has all the strength and skills need to roll the other way, so I think it's just a matter of time.  He's already able to lift himself up to his chest and lift his legs up so he is rocking on his belly)

Language: Finn squeals and laughs a lot. Cole has gone up to him multiple times and said "Finn, smile for me!" and Finn will laugh in return (makes Cole's day!). Finn is ticklish and loves being bounced around, looked at, made funny faces at etc...He definitely has different levels of cries and squeals.  He watches people and will fallow people with his eyes and his head.

General: Finn likes to be carried around in the front carrier.  He always falls asleep in it! (Now I know why I could NEVER feels this baby move when I was active!) He likes it when I sing.  He associates baby massage with singing and undressing, so he gets excited every time I change his diaper and when I sing to him.  The other day I was trying to get him to go to sleep, so I started singing and he immediately popped his eyes open and had that expectant look of "yeah I'm going to get a massage!".

Finn enjoys his almost nightly massage.  I started at about one month.  I wasn't super consistent with it and it took a little while before he was comfortable, but now he loves it.  I keep it to about 10 minutes and try to do it at night time right before his last feeding.  Most times I'll include a short bath afterwards.  He still is very hesitant in the bath tub, so I keep baths as short as possible.

Feeding:  I think he's at approximately 6 feedings a day. Once before I leave for work.  He'll take 2 5oz bottles while I'm gone, then feed after I get home, once in the evening and once right before bed. So, usually 6, 7 if he is up at night.

Play time:  He spends most of his time on his floor mats.  I just started putting him in his bouncer more often, because he can actually reach the toys now.  He is grabbing and reaching for toys and trying to get toys in his mouth.  The other day I saw him working on getting his feet in his mouth!  And, he pulled the string on the bouncer hard enough to make the music go for the first time!

All in all, Finn is a very happy and content baby. Next month we'll get a weight check.  Right now I'm assuming he is 12lbs or so, he just started wearing 3-6 months clothes at the beginning of the month.
