Happy Monday

We had a wonderful weekend.  I finally finished my Spring Cleaning--by that I mean, I finally got just about everything in the house put back where it belongs and I cleaned out a few closets.  Nick started and is half-way through his first yard project, which is building a large planter box (aka vegetable garden) in front of the barn.  This involves digging through some of the compacted rocks and dirt and laying posts in the ground to form a nice box.  He is building them up maybe a foot or so off the ground, so he will pour bags of nice dirt in the planter box and we will have a nice space to plant veggies.  All that's left at this point is building the top layer, so he should finish early this week.
We spent most of the day outside on Sunday.  While Cole was sleeping and Nick was working outside, I went and bought annuals.  That afternoon, I planted while Cole spent part of his time trailing dad with his kid-size hammer and part of his time either fallowing mom around or playing with his toys in the yard.  At one point, I needed to distract Cole long enough for Nick to cut some boards (power tools and toddlers don't do well together!), so I had him help me remove the dead flowers among the Iris.  Hmm...Cole loved it!  But, since he couldn't distinguish between 'dead' and 'alive' flowers....I lost a few Iris in the process:-)  At one point, I told him we were all done with this patch of Iris, but he didn't believe me and went back to pick just a few more!!!
