New schedule

Well. Cole just dropped two feedings and is now sleeping through the night with no early morning feeding. Yeah! I haven't used my alarm clock in months because Cole's a pretty reliable wake up call! All thought this morning he did wake up a half hour early. Grr. Thank you, Nick, for entertaining him while I continued to sleep:-). I think Cole is just about ready to start eating baby cereal. He can sit up with some assistance, he is interested in what we are eating, he likes putting things in his mouth and he does a good job taking his medicines. However, he seems to be doing fine with just milk and considering his current wonderful schedule I hesitate to make any changes.

hey leslie - it's so fun to read your blog and hear about the new things cole is doing! you know, i've been saying for a year now that I should start a blog like this for emelia - it's been one of the things i just haven't gotten around to though. Sounds like he's going to be a tall boy! Emelia is only 2 1/2 inches longer than cole! (and 18 lbs) - at 9 months! Sounds like he's in a great routine and that's awesome he's sleeping thru the night!!!! Also sounds like you are really enjoying being a mom!! A thought about starting solids....while there are lots of people who think it's best to start earlier, many are actually saying to wait until 6 months, the earlier you start the more chance of allergies etc. and they really do only need milk until around 6 months. there's a great website www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com that i use a lot as i make my own baby food. it's really simple and doesn't take that long ( i freeze it in ice cube trays) if you're interested. Also has some good info about starting solids. p.s. emelia HATED the rice cereal! And she doesn't like the multigrain one or ANY baby cereal for that matter!! But she LOVES all kinds of veges and fruit! have a great day!

Thanks for the tips, Janet! I'm thinking of waiting until closer to 6 months. I'm not planning on starting veggies/fruits until 6 months and so it seems silly to be feeding cereal for a long time before starting fruits & veggies. I do plan on making my own baby food, so I'll definitely check out the website. You'll have to tell me what worked well for Emilia. And, yes do start a blog it is so much fun and then I'll be able to see pictures of your family!

Hey Leslie...I LOVE your new pictures of Cole. He looks like a little man!! I can't believe how quickly they grow up...Keziah is 10months old Chasidi will be 10 in July!!!

I made all of Keziah's baby food...SO fun, so cheap, and so healthy!! If you are still debating about cereal...you can always consider skipping it altogether since it has no nutritional content and just use meats at his first foods. This is a much better, more usable, source of iron for babies...especially if you are making your own. Either way, if you are looking for good websites, here's one: http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com

By the way, I am so jealous that Cole is sleeping through the night! Keziah is 10 months and still up at 5:30ish to nurse (although she does go back to sleep until 8:30am, which I really do love)!! I told Femi just last night that I don't care how hard or long Keziah cries....starting at 1 year I will NO LONGER be up nursing at night...that is where I draw the line. (but she's really too dang cute to hold to that)

Thanks Carlee for the suggestions and the website. I took at look at the website--it has lots of good information. I'm really not too worried one way or another. I think Cole will handle solids just fine, but I guess there is no rush as long as milk seems to be doing the trick. Plus who wants smelly poop!?!
