Pulling Up, Standing & Sitting back down

Wow. I took a lot of pictures this weekend and I've got to get them posted--I just can't seem to find the time. This has to be, hands down, one of the most exciting months to watch Cole grow. I'm glad some of the family will get to see him in a week! He has gone from crawling to standing to now trying to stand on his own and, the latest, trying to sit down after he's been standing (too cute to watch him try to figure out how to get back down!). Just last night, I was playing with him in the grass and he tried to stand up by pushing off of my legs (I was laying down). Too cute to watch him stick his diaper in the air, straighten his legs and then push off of me--with just a little help from me he could get to a standing position. Then he tried to let go of me so he was standing on his own. So far, his wobbly legs only allow him to stand unassisted for a split second...but I'm sure that will change soon...he keeps trying and he keeps getting more daring!

We took him to the park on Saturday (my company had a picnic). He played in the baby swing for the first time in a while. I seem to have neglected taking him to the park this summer:-( Anyway, he really loved the swing. Well...on Sunday I found him trying to hoist himself up into his baby swing at home! He hasn't been in that thing for ages and I was getting ready to put it in the barn. So, I set him in the swing and boy did he have a blast! Last night I took him to the park to swing (making up for lost time, I guess). He wasn't happy unless he was going faster! He was even pumping his legs a little. I think he's a natural with the swing. I also helped him crawl through a small play equipment that consisted of two steps, a landing, and a short slide. I had to show him how to crawl up the step the first time, but he got the hang of it after that. I also had to turn him feet first for the slide--he kept trying to go head first. The two of us would go down the slide together, of course, but pretty much the rest he figured out on his own. It was some fun Mommy & son time.
