Yeah, for using the potty!

Just a quick update on potty training (sorry, for those of you who find this topic uninteresting:-). Three times this weekend, Cole told me he needed to use the potty...this is a huge milestone! The full story is quite entertaining...

On Saturday, at about the time Cole was getting restless in his booster seat and was finishing up his meal, he told me he needed to go "peepeepoohpooh".  I barely understood what he was saying, and almost ignored him, but decided to give it a shot.  Since the bathroom with the potty seat was occupied, I took him to another bathroom.  Poor guy had to work hard just to not fall in!  Well, he clearly put a good effort in, but no success (about a month ago, he had several times in a row when Cole would indicate he needed to go #2, but would end up going about an hour or so later).  Well, this seemed reminiscent of that time.  Fortunately, I was playing with him about ten minutes later when I noticed he needed to go. I rushed him to the potty and made it there in time.  I was happy, because this meant Cole knew what he was telling him 10 minutes ago and at least he was getting closer.  After that, I decided to take Cole outside.  Well, he saw his little play pool and before I could rip his clean diaper off he sat in it.  Well, this was a normal diaper so it blew up to about 5x its original size.  Within a few minutes Cole was holding on to the front of his diaper saying "peepee".  The few of us watching laughed and said he must be thinking he really wet his diaper!  I took his diaper off and sent he back to the pool.  Again, he stopped, looked at me and said "peepee". WELL, HELLO MAMA!  I guess if I'm going to be serious about potty training, I better sit him on the potty every time he says "peepee" whether I think he needs to go or not!  So, there I was running into the house with a naked boy in my arms...sat him on the potty and voila, success!  WOW, I was so excited.  After that, Mimi offered to watch him in the (warm--not hot) hot tub along with his cousins.  We let him go completely naked since he clearly was good to go.  About an hour later, I was drying him off and was going to set him on the potty...because why not, he's already naked?  But, the little fella ran from me.  I caught up to him and said: "Cole, if you don't need to go peepee, just say "no, mama".  Cole, do you need to go peepee?" "yes"  WHAT?!? Cole where do we go peepee?"  Off, he went straight to the potty, sat on it and went! Crazy
Well, two days later, he told me he needed to go "poohpooh" and sure enough he did.  This time I offered him a mini-M'M as a reward.  The next time he told me (after I asked him) and he went potty, I got really excited and said "Cole remember, what do you get?".  He looked at me, did a little spin and a cheer for himself.  Well, why bother with M'Ms if he thinks a cheer is a good enough reward:-)
