So, we've been transitioning Cole to eating what we're eating (at least when it is appropriate). He's thrown a fit a few at times and has had to go a little hungry. Last night was just too funny I had to share!
Nick made homemade pot pie w/ buiscuits on top. This was a perfect meal for Cole b/c he loves stewed carrots (yes he will ask for carrots!) and he will eat stewed chicken (and who has ever turned down a homemade buiscuit?). So, we give Cole a small bowl. Cole in turn starts crying...large crocodile tears. I got some applesauce for myself and offered some to Cole as well (his favorite). Cole says he wants some. I go get him a bowl. I go to hand it to him. "NO" More crying. "I NO want that!" Okay, I put the dish on the table. Nick and I sit down to eat. Cole's still crying. Nick asks Cole what's the matter. "I WANT applesauce!" (I was thinking just give him the applesauce, but Nick took a different route). "Cole, eat a bite of your dinner, then you can have some applesauce." Nick gives Cole a small spoon full of chicken. Cole spits it out without tasting it. Nick insist he must take a bite. (I'm thinking, this is probably not the route to go here...this will most likely backfire on us...). Cole valiently shews the bite of chicken, then grabs the fork from Nick and proceeds to down the rest of the food in record time! Cole then hands to bowl to Nick and says "find more chicken please" (meaning, there is some chicken stuck to the side of the bowl and I can't get it on my fork). Talk about a complete change! After his first helping, he ate his applesauce and then ate part of his second helping of dinner. What a strange dinner experience! Nick and I had a hard time not busting out laughing!

Lol! You have an amazing little eater! Hang in there, dinner time can be a crazy time for a while as he adjusts to new foods. Sounds like you'll get through it fine though. Who wouldn't eat anything that the two of you would cook? :-)
Cute story. Who knows what goes on in their little heads?
Have you heard the story about me and the sardines? I loved sardines when I was little.
