Welcome Cole Robert

Cole was born Thursday night at 9:58 PM. Mom and Dad were happy to see a healthy little boy. Here's a quick run down of the events that led up to his arrival. Leslie's water broke at 7:45 PM on Wednesday night. Since Leslie was not having any contractions--it was recommended that we wait 3-4 hours before heading to the hospital. Once at the hospital, Leslie was only 1 cm along (the same as the day before when she had her last doctor's appointment). Leslie walked the halls for another 1 1/2 hrs before finally starting the petocin (sp?) drip (2 AM) to increase her contractions. At 6 AM, we reached 2 cm. By, noon the next day, Leslie was at 4 cm (and getting slightly discouraged). By, 4 PM we were finally at....drumroll...5cm (and greatly discouraged). Leslie did ask for some pain relief at that point. They gave her some medicine that took the edge off the pain for the next hour or so. At this point, Leslie has had no sleep since Tuesday night so an hour of relief was greatly appreciated. After that, everything seem to move quite quickly. Her contraction grew in intensity and she began to fight the urge to bear down and push. For the next 3 hours, Leslie was really, really ready to get this baby out. It took the help of Nick and a nurse to convince her not to push! Finally, she was given the green light! Unfortunately, after 2 1/2 hours of pushing...we had no progress. The baby's head just wasn't cooperating. After we exhausted all options of doing this naturally, we headed to the operating room for a c-section (9:30 PM). The staff was amazing and did everything they could to get Leslie out of pain as quickly as possible. Everything happened so fast, we didn't even have time to inform our immediate family members we were headed to surgery. Nick was an amazing support during this process. And both Mom & Dad, were overjoyed to see their little boy for the first time. At 9 lb 10 oz and 21 inch, our little Cole surprised everyone with his size. We are amazed at his calm demeanor. He is such a cutie!
