Cole seems to be getting over his cold. I'm not sure that his ear infection is going away, though. I may need to take him back to the doctor. He keeps holding his right ear when he feeds. I've never seen him do this before, so I'm assuming it's related to his ear infection. He is as happy as ever during the day, but nights are more difficult. He wakes himself up with coughing fits and has a hard time falling back asleep. The last two nights I've fed him and given him his nebulizer treatment at 1 & 5 am. Which wouldn't be so bad if both Nick and I weren't also sick with a cold! Last night I did only one feeding and treatment (yeah!). But, I was up checking on him a good portion of the time. He would wake up with chocking sounds--it was awful. He seemed to half sleep through them, but there was no way that I was not going to check on him. Each time I'd bounce out of bed and run down to his room just to pat him on the back & give him his pacifier (counter intuitive when the kid is chocking, but it calmed him down enough to get his breathing back to normal). (I'm feeding him at night b/c you can't put him back to sleep w/o a full tummy! He's no fool:-) Also, I've discovered that he won't take his treatment unless he has been fed. I didn't mind the extra feedings b/c I was worried about dehydration. He hasn't been feeding as well during the day, probably b/c of his congestion).
I'm hoping we can rest up this weekend and get this whole family back to normal by Monday. The next step will be making sure that all ears are back to normal before we take off for Vegas next week. I found some ear plugs online that help regulate the air pressure. I'm going to try those next week on our flight--I'm really, really hoping they work.
