Finn turned 7 months this past Saturday. I have to say that the 2nd half of the first year is a lot more fun than the first half. Finn is starting to show more personality, be more mobile, and is starting to show some pre-verbal skills. In general, he's just a blast!
Sleeping: Well, our nights have been awful this month. He has suffered from three ear infections and on average has been up 4+ times per night. Right now, he is on the tail end of his antibiotics (I'm assuming the ear pain is gone) and he is up only once or twice at night (which is awesome!). He is usually asleep by 9 PM and awake by 7AM.
Napping: He will take several cat naps and at least one decent nap (1.5 to 2 hrs) around early afternoon.
Eating: Most recently, I added yogurt and nectarines (puree). He likes yogurt if it's mixed with some fruit. At this point he has had, squash, apples, pears, rice cereal, sweet potatoes, bananas, avocados, yogurt, nectarines. I just made a batch of plums and green beans--so those are next! I did start him on puffs earlier this month. He can manage to get them in his mouth, although he tends to gag on them. He does okay if I put it in his mouth were he can chew on them first. Overall, he's not a huge fan just yet.
Teething: About mid-month I started to notice one or maybe two bottom teeth coming. They still aren't through, yet, but you can feel them under the gums.
Moving: He is happily crawling around. He loves to pull himself up and will pull up on anything (laundry baskets, open dishwasher, open drawers, chairs etc). He likes to cruise (slowly) from one object to another. He tried to crawl up the stairs. His knees are lower than the step height...so it's quite a feat for him to crawl up one step. Because, he doesn't have much to grab onto, he tends to slide down the steps more than he makes progress going up! But, once he reaches a new step he gets SO EXCITED! I have to say, people warned me that an early crawler was not a good thing...but in Finn's case, he is so much happier now..It's actually a relief for me to have him crawl around.
Playing: He is playing with the wonder pets mega blocks, the farm pop-up toy and his walkers. He loves things that make music and light up.
Reading: He will sit still long enough to read him a few books.
Signing: He understands the sign for "milk". I need to teach him the sign for bath, because he LOVES baths. He will crawl towards the tub as soon as he hears the water running. He loves taking a bath with Cole. Last night, Nick ran a bath for Cole but didn't put Finn in. Finn hit his head against the tile floor as he was crawling in the bathroom. When I came to check in on the commotion and Nick told me what happened. I told him, Finn was probably crawling too fast because he wanted in the tub and he's probably crying more because he's upset about missing out on tubby time than on being hurt:-)
