So, I haven't written the traditional "6 month" update yet, and I'll need to do a "7 month" update soon! I've been cataloging a lot of this in my head and I better at least write some of these observations down before I completely forget.
By 6 months: crawling with knees bent, but flopping on stomach.
6 month + 1 week: Pushing himself into a sitting position from crawling. Sitting on his own.
6 months + 2 weeks: Pulling himself up to a standing position.
6 months + 3 weeks: Cruising (slowly) from one object to another (i.e. moving from a coffee table to someones outstretched arm, going from a push toy to the window ledge, etc). Can stand and take a few steps with the support of just one hand.
6 months + 4 weeks: Clapping with two hands. Crawling on knees and alternating knee/hand movements.
Needless to say this has been a month of changes for Finn! It seems like every few days I find myself shouting (sometimes to no one in particular) "Wow, look at THAT, Look at THAT!!".
Since Finn is now mobile, we've been able to watch Finn and Cole playing together. Finn would rather play with Cole's toys and Cole can't keep his hands off Finn's toys--so let the sharing begin! I'm constantly having to remind Cole to be gentle with Finn. Just this morning Cole got in trouble for roughly patting Finn down. "Cole, what were you thinking?" "Well, I had to put the fire out, Mom." "Next time, can you just use your imagination to put the imaginary fire out?"

WOW! That is really amazing. I can't even immagine it. None of my three kids showed any interest in crawling until at least 10 months and walking until 14 or 15 months. It didn't matter how much tummy time they got or how much we tried to get them to go from arm to arm or table to couch. And the two youngest never cared that they had older siblings who were more mobile either. This is really something! Maybe Finn will be athletic and Cole the intellectual one. Although it seems like they are in the wrong bodies lol! :-)
Haha...I laughed about the "wrong bodies" comment. Right now the size thing is working in Finn's favor. He's so low to the ground when he is standing that it's not such a big deal if he falls. It cracks me up, b/c he plays with the walkers (pushed up against the wall--in stationary mode) and the handles are at shoulder height! (they're almost taller than him:-)
So, I think it's more a personality thing than exposure to tummy time. I cuddled Finn a lot more than I did with Cole. Finn was the one who started giving himself tummy time! He's the one who's been pushing himself.
