Happy 13 Months!

Ah..time does fly! We've had such a blast with Cole this month. He is learning so much and doing so much these days--it's seriously entertaining just to watch him. I'll share one of those funny stories.

On Saturday, I bought him two pairs of PJs while I was doing my regular shopping. I was lazy when I got home and hung them up on our coat tree in the foyer. Cole was napping at the time and I had lots of groceries to put away. Well, by the time Cole woke up I had forgotten that the PJs were still hanging there and even though I'd planned to give them to him at Christmas I figured he wouldn't notice them and even if he did, what 1-year old gets excited over PJs??? Well, I was still working in the kitchen, when all of the sudden I heard lots of "vroom, vroom, VroOM, VVrooom". I turned around and there was Cole looking up at his PJs with vehicles on it saying "vroom" for every single vehicle on the outfit! Finally, he got so excited he tried to pull the PJs down--- and that's right about the time I had to rescue the PJs and put them away!

Milestones:

Teeth: We just got 4 more top teeth in this week (or week and a half or so). That makes a total of 12 teeth! Poor guy:-( That's a lot of teeth at once!

Walking: Oh yeah, in case you haven't been following, Cole is a walker.

Playing: His cozy coupe car is a hit right now. He can't peddle in it with his feet, but he can get in/out and in/out and in/out again! He likes to close the door, honk the horn and then start all over again. Sometimes he brings a toy or two in with him...it's really too funny to watch:-) He's playing with his wooden puzzles and his wonder pets mega blocks (super hit!). He's reading his books a lot and especially likes his reading cards (hard to explain, but he has a book that's made up of sequential cards to tell the story)--the cards fit in a box, so half the fun is taking the cards out of the box and putting them back in the box. Vehicles are really starting to be a hit. You'll see him wheel his cars around. He'll even take his puzzle pieces that have cars on them and "wheel" them around with lots of "RoOM, Vrromm".

Talking: As always, we get lots of "Ashish" "Ashooh" for 'what's that'. I'm loosing count on the baby signs. I think we added 4 or 5 this month, so I'm going to say were close to 20. The major ones are Gorilla and Monkey. He's saying "dada" and knows that that means "daddy". He knows who "mama" is, but will only say it very rarely (almost accidentally, at least he won't repeat it). "dudu" for duck. And of course his many simplified animal sounds.

Sleeping: It's been a breeze this month. At the beginning of the month I weaned him from breastmilk. That meant Dad had to do the bedtime routine and any middle of the night wake-ups. (Ah...blissful sleep for me!). Somewhere along the line, Cole just decided that he wanted to go to bed and now bedtime is really a breeze. I noticed (I think late last month) that if we said "Cole are ready for night-night?", he would respond by blowing kisses (I realized that that was his made up sign for night-night, since we are give kisses before going to bed). So, we now start by talking about going "night-night" while he was still in the living room and then one of us will take him upstairs, turn his music on and put him to bed. He'll lie awake for a little while and then will eventually fall asleep--Ah...so easy:-)

Well, that's a long re-cap of what he's up to these days. I'll post pictures when I get a chance.
